Curbing - the practice of purchasing a vehicle with the intent to resell it for a profit.
Many insured's do not realize is that there is an exclusion in their personal auto insurance policy that voids coverage on any vehicle that is purchased with the intent to resell the vehicle for a profit.
Curbing is quite common. If you are making numerous additions and deletions of vehicles under your policy the insurance company will be wanting to investigate the possibility that you are curbing. The adjuster will be requested to check for proof as to the use of the vehicle. If it is discovered that you are curbing you will have some difficulty with just about any claim you make.
If you are curbing there other options open to you from an insurance perspective.
This "exception" is written into your auto insurance policy because of government laws and regulations. I am sure the lobby group for Auto Dealers Association, and Vehicle Manufacturers had something to do with this. Regardless of the reason, you may want to make different arrangements for insurance if you are curbing vehicles.
